Supplemental Habitat explores both the memories associated with fishing on the Burt Lake, where my father’s ashes were scattered, and reconsiders how humans can alter the location and creation of fish, based on the use of artificial fish habitats, typically constructed from PVC. This project brings sculptural versions of artificial fish habitats and water and sand into the gallery space with a projection mapped recording of a performance of my father’s fishing lures in Lake Michigan combined with the audio from one of his frequent fishing trips from the 80’s. This project was created at the Lakeside Inn Artist Residency in Michigan.
